• American red cedar: Though it’s not quite the same as Spanish cedar, American red cedar shares very similar properties with its Spanish counterpart. It’s a far less common choice, but it’s a suitable alternative if you happen to have access to it.
• Kiln-dried hardwoods: It’s not uncommon to find cigar humidors that use kiln-dried hardwoods such as cherry and oak. The main reason why these types of trees are suitable is because they are durable and considered low risk (in terms of imparting unwanted odors).
