Island Cigars Corp Raided By The Florida ABT
Special agents from the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco conducted a series of raids and arrests in Florida this week. The agents raided cigar manufacturers suspected of the producing and selling counterfeit cigars of the COHIBA®, Macanudo® and Partagas® cigar brands.
The process began more than a year ago when General Cigar requested that the Tampa ABT investigate individuals suspected of involvement in the manufacture, distribution and sale of counterfeit cigars. As Florida is a major hub of cigar manufacturing, the ongoing investigations have led to multiple arrests in Florida cities including Clearwater, Davenport, Fort Myers, Hollywood, Lutz, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, Tampa and Weeki Wachee.
